Family-School Compact

What is a Family-School Compact?
A Family-School Compact for achievement is an agreement that parents, students, and teachers will honor for the success of their student.  It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all students reach and exceed grade-level standards.
EFFECTIVE COMPACTS:
Link to the goals of the School Improvement Plan
Follow the NC Standard Course of Study
Focus on student learning skills
Share strategies parents can use at home
Explain how teachers and parents will communicate
Describe opportunities for parents to participate

Family & School Together
Parents and staff developed this Family-School Compact for achievement.  It is reviewed annually by the School Improvement Team, and changes are made based on the needs of the school population.

If you would like to volunteer at our school, please contact your child’s teacher or the front office at 910-602-4970.

Students
Castle Hayne Elementary students can join the efforts of their parents and teachers to develop ideas about how they can succeed in school and unlock their potential to excel in reading and math. Here are some ideas of how students can assist in  making connections between learning at home and at school:
  • Read every night.
  • Practice math facts daily.
  • Set goals for themselves to learn new words.
  • Play word-building games.
  • Write letters to family members.

In The Classroom

The teachers at Castle Hayne will work with students and their families to support students’ success in all content areas. Some key connections will be:

  • Send home teacher newsletters to inform families of what students are learning.
  • Share math resources from Eureka so families can see how math is being taught and provide opportunities for practice at home.
  • Go over student data.
  • Provide parents with information related to student achievement and academic progress
  • Create opportunities for families to learn more about reading and math strategies.
